Cheryl Thomas has been the band director at Coloma since 2004.

Mrs. Thomas received her Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Western Michigan University (2002) and her Masters Degree in Conducting from Southern Oregon University (2007).  While at WMU, she served as a drum major in the marching band for two years.

Mrs. Thomas currently performs as a trombonist in the Lake Effect Jazz Band in St. Joseph.  She also serves on the MSBOA District Six Executive Board as the Vice President for High School Solo & Ensemble.

Mrs. Thomas directs all bands at Coloma including the High School Band, 7th & 8th Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, and 5th Grade Beginning Band.

The Coloma Bands have consistently received high ratings under the direction of Mrs. Thomas.  Mrs. Thomas and her husband Brandon have two daughters, Mia & Madilyn, and miniature schnauzer, Belle.

Band festivals are important events for the students. Participating bands are rated by a panel of judges in three categories as they play music they have practiced. Then the band is required to play pieces that are unfamiliar to them. Bands earn a numeric rating from 1 to 5 where 1 is the best.  You are invited and encouraged to attend band events to support our students and to enjoy the music.
